Mutual Learning Visit in San Sebastian

Excerpt:
San Sebastian, June 28th-29th 2010

On June 28th-29th 2010, Keen Region Project partners from Veneto Region and Rhône-Alpes had the opportunity to visit Basque Country nanotechnology cluster to understand context and model.

The two days foresaw:

  • the presentation and visit of the research centres and organisation operating in the nanotechnology field (nanoBasque Agency, CIC nanoGUNE, POLYMAT, CIC microGUNE, BiomaGUNE and CIDETEC),
  • a Matchmaking Event to concretely bridge the link among business and research giving companies, universities and research centres the possibility to meet potential partners for product development, exploitation of research results, manufacturing and licensing agreements, joint ventures or similar partnerships. The event included a presentation of Companies/Research Centres Profiles and face-to-face meetings to discuss potential business deals.

The NanoBasque Agency assumes the functions of mobilising Basque businesses, organising a nanosciences Knowledge Community and socialising the value of nanoscience and micro and nanotechnologies.

CIC nanoGUNE is a Research Centre with the mission of addressing basic and applied research in nanoscience and nanotechnology, fostering high-standard training and education, and promoting the cooperation among Universities, Technological Centres and the industrial sector. In the centre are active 5 Research Groups and a TEM Laboratory.

The Institute for Polymer Materials (POLYMAT) of the University of the Basque Country, is a research organisation that works in close contact with polymer industries, through fundamental investigation of industrially relevant problems.

The CIC microGUNE is a Cooperative Research Centre specialised in Microsensors, Microfluidics and Micro/Nanoengineering.

BiomaGUNE is a Research Centre the operates in the field of bio(nano)materials and molecular (biomedical) imaging.

CIDETEC-IK4 is a Centre for Electrochemical Technologies and includes technical facilities, 4000m2 equipped laboratories and highly qualified technical and research personnel able to conduct specialised services in research, development and innovation, technical assessment, technological diffusion, information sourcing and training.

More detailed information on the research centres are available joining the KEEN-Regions website.
