Keen-Regions aims to accelerate and foster the nanotechnology development in three European regions - Veneto (Italy), Rhone Alps (France) and Basque Country (Spain)- through the establishment of consistent and cooperative networks of research centres, boosting the synergies among the research and business communities and valorising the complementarities among these regions.

KEEN-Regions is one of the Regions of Knowledge projects and it is supported by the European Commission through its Seventh Framework Programme.

KEEN-Regions: a joint programming story

KEEN-Regions project releases the booklet "Smart methodology applied to nanotechnologies".

Number of Finnish companies using nanotechnology triples between 2008 and 2011

The number of Finnish companies using nanotechnology tripled during 2008 to 2011. This was revealed by a survey carried out by the Nanotechnology Cluster Programme (OSKE) in early 2012. In 2007–2011, the Nanocluster expanded to include 210 companies that provide a commercial product involving nanotechnology. Approximately one hundred of these are at the pre-commercial phase, while at least 170 have reached the vision stage.

Final conference presentations available

KEEN-Regions joint planning approach

KEEN-Regions project releases the booklet "Smart methodology applied to nanotechnologies".

KEEN Regions Joint Action Plan released

The Joint Action Plan of the KEEN Regions project has been released on March 2012. The JAP aims to create synergies and to share new methodologies among KEEN-Regions partners.

KEEN-Regions Research Potential

Veneto, Rhône-Alpes and the Basque Country embody three different models of nanotechnology research driven clusters. In fact KEEN-Regions initial activities aimed to collect and share targeted information of each cluster through mapping and analysis of the existing resources.

During the KEEN-Regions project life the Smart Specialization concept has been repeatedly associated to the project activities. In fact the Smart Specialization has been widely utilized in the identification and setting up of the KEEN-Regions Joint Action Plan actions. For example one of the Smart Specialization ideas considers the clusters as the venue for entrepreneurial discovery process.
